Colt Recognized for Contributions to
America's Hunting & Shooting Heritage
Las Vegas, NV- The Hunting Heritage Trust has recognized Colt Manufacturing for extraordinary contributions in support of America's hunting and shooting sports heritage through its generous donations to the 2011 SHOT Show auction.
Colt's donation of a factory engraved 1911 recognizing the 100th anniversary of that iconic firearm and its record-breaking auction on GunBroker.com was one of the key topics of discussion at the SHOT Show.
The SHOT Show Colt generated a high bid of $83,025 to be used in support of America's hunting and shooting sports heritage.
Coordinated by the Hunting Heritage Trust in conjunction with the NSSF, the 2011 SHOT Show auction featured a historic factory-engraved Colt 1911 and an equally historic cased-pair of Browning 1911s.
The factory- engraved Colt 1911 celebrated the 100th anniversary of that acclaimed side arm and featured the Serial Number 1911COLT2011. The left side of the gun featured a prominent and powerful hand inlaid gold inscription, "100 YEARS AT AMERICA'S SIDE" and a gold-inlaid Rampant Colt. The right side featured large gold inlays including "1911-2011" and the serpentine "Colt". In addition, the serial number "1911COLT 2011" was hand-engraved and inlaid with gold.
The 2011 SHOT Show auction was featured exclusively on GunBroker.com. Proceeds will benefit the efforts of the Hunting Heritage Trust in support of America's hunting and shooting sports heritage.
