Hunting Heritage Trust Partners With Barrett Productions
In Ambitious Hunting Documentary Project
In an effort to reach millions of Americans with a first-of-its-kind documentary on the value and historical significance of hunting in America, the Hunting Heritage Trust has partnered with Barrett Productions to produce a major two-hour documentary on America's hunting heritage for public television and school audiences.
"This is an exciting project that promises tremendous benefits for the entire hunting community," commented Steve Williams, a member of the Heritage Trust Board of Directors and Chairman of its Documentary Advisory Committee. "We look forward to working with the award-winning team at Barrett Productions and to coordinating our efforts with all hunting and conservation groups to make this initiative a success."
"It's important to emphasize that this will not be an effort by the Hunting Heritage Trust and Barrett Productions only," Williams said. "We envision a team effort by the entire hunting and conservation community that will be coordinated by the Heritage Trust." In keeping with that spirit, the Trust is gathering a blue-ribbon panel of historians, conservation experts and communications professionals to help guide the creative, marketing and fundraising phases of the project.
As work on the project begins, the Trust and Barrett envision a program that emphasizes the "cultural history" of hunting in America. "The hunting tradition in America began when our founders insisted that every citizen, not just the privileged few, would have the right to hunt," Williams said. "The story of this 'Unique American Democracy of Hunting' has been told in hunting books and conservation journals but never in a television documentary aimed at the general public and school audiences. Working together, we are going to tell this important story."
"Barrett Productions has produced hundreds of television programs over the years and we are proud of the work we've done, but everyone at our company agrees this project is special. This will be one of the most challenging and important programs in which Barrett Productions will ever be involved," commented John Barrett, company Founder and President. "We are honored to partner with the Trust in this effort and we are committed to producing a television program that does justice to our hunting and conservation heritage while contributing to their collective futures."
Heritage Trust and Barrett officials emphasize that input and financial assistance from the hunting and conservation community is welcome. Additional information is available from the Hunting Heritage Trust through Contact Us
