Hunting Heritage Trust Launches
"Opening Day Tribute" Firearms Program
The Hunting Heritage Trust has partnered with GunBroker.com, Baron Technology, Leupold and Ruger to create a special limited edition firearm package to celebrate the tradition of "Opening Day" of deer hunting season.
The inaugural 2007 edition features the Ruger M77 Hawkeye and will be limited to only two rifles per state. The guns will be available exclusively on the popular internet auction site GunBroker.com.
"The opening day of deer hunting season is truly a special time for most hunters," commented Bob Delfay, President of the Hunting Heritage Trust. "Just as most of us look back on our first opening day with special memories, we also continue to look forward to opening day each year as we renew our hunting heritage".
"We are truly excited to announce this program and our partnership effort with Baron Technology, GunBroker.com, Leupold and Ruger," Delfay said. "The beauty of this program is that it will celebrate one of our most powerful hunting traditions at the same time that it supports the future of our hunting and shooting sports heritage"
While the 2007 "Opening Day" edition celebrates the opening day for whitetail deer, additional editions are planned in recognition of waterfowl, turkey, dove and other traditional opening days. The Hunting Heritage Trust looks forward to partnering with other manufacturers and organizations on future opening day projects.
The Ruger M77 Hawkeye was selected to carry the theme for the whitetail deer opening day tribute. The M77 has a very special heritage of its own, having accompanied many hunters on opening day deer hunts since its introduction nearly two decades ago. The rifle is chambered in the traditional .270 caliber, a favorite of millions of deer hunters. The rifle features a specially engraved floorplate highlighting a traditional whitetail deer hunting scene.
The guns are being posted on GunBroker.com beginning on November 14. The auctions will have staggered closings with all bidding ending in early December to accommodate those that are interested in the guns as Christmas gifts.
The successful bidders in each state will also have the exclusive opportunity to purchase a Limited Edition Leupold VX-III scope with matching "Opening Day" artwork and state designations.
Interested bidders may view these special firearms and register to bid on www.gunbroker.com.
